Three of the five most popular news articles on Modern Poultry in 2025 were provided by industry sponsors, reports Carly Feeks, publisher of the rapidly growing website.
Sponsor’s articles typically report on new research or draw on field experiences and technical expertise on specific production topics.
The same trend was also seen on Modern Poultry’s robust LinkedIn channel, which, according to Feeks, has the highest engagement rate among all poultry media.
Three of the top five LinkedIn posts by Modern Poultry in 2025 supported other content provided by sponsors.
“The results confirm that our readers welcome timely, balanced, science-based information from a wide variety of sources, including industry, so they can make informed decisions and become more efficient, sustainable producers.”
Promotes learning, sharing
Launched in July 2023, Modern Poultry is unique in that it focuses exclusively on live production. Feeks says the website was designed to offer a calm, clutter-free, non-commercial editorial environment that fosters learning and sharing.
Toward that end, Modern Poultry does not accept traditional advertising. Instead, the pioneering website recruits sponsors and urges them to provide non-commercial, educational content supporting their latest research, innovations and ideas.
“Today, approximately 70 percent of our content comes from our staff-written news reports — usually the latest information from scientific conferences — and articles authored by independent poultry experts,” she says.
“The rest is provided by our sponsors, but we insist that they keep their content educational and focus on the practical needs of producers.”
Feeks thinks the strong response to sponsors’ articles underscores the importance of good content marketing, where progressive, forward-thinking companies and associations prioritize thought leadership and information sharing — not sales and lead generation.
“Customer trust and confidence need to be earned,” she says. “Modern Poultry has proven to be a strong, educational platform for communicating with producers, sharing ideas and building relationships.”
