Modern Poultry marks ‘day 365’ with sharp focus on live production

Modern Poultry, a news website focused on live production, is celebrating “day 365” serving the global poultry industry.

“From day 1, we wanted to take a holistic, integrated approach with our editorial coverage while also creating a clean, calm, clutter-free editorial environment that’s conducive to learning and sharing,” said Carly Feeks, publisher and owner of Feeks Media LLC.

“One year later — or on day 365, as they say in live production — that’s still our mission.”

Decision-makers throughout the industry have embraced the news website’s non-commercial, educational format:

  • Modern Poultry attracted nearly 5,000 followers on LinkedIn during its first year— robust growth that’s “all organic with no paid promotion,” Feeks added.
  • Modern Poultry distributes a free newsletter five times a week to make subscribers aware of its latest content. Veterinarians, nutritionists, feed managers, live-production managers and researchers make up nearly 70% of its subscriber base, Feeks said.
  • Sponsors have flocked to Modern Poultry. Today, nine commercial companies and five non-profit associations use Modern Poultry to keep the industry informed about their latest research, ideas and initiatives focused on live production.

“We’re covering everything from health, feed and nutrition to housing, welfare and food safety — plus many other topics related to live production,” said JoAnna Pendergrass, DVM, managing editor.

“We also have special editorial sections for the breeder, broiler, layer and turkey segments of the industry, so it’s easy to find what interests you most.”
