Profiling Salmonella serotypes in broiler processing may aid surveillance, tracing

Nikki Shariat, PhD, assistant professor at the University of Georgia, presented her research on profiling Salmonella serotypes through broiler processing at the 2023 International Production & Processing Expo.

“The two objectives of this work were to improve Salmonella surveillance and to more accurately trace Salmonella populations at commercial poultry processing facilities, pre- and post-intervention,” she explained.
